Description
The course provides an in-depth examination of contemporary developments and issues in the theory and practice of mediation as a method for conflict resolution. These are examined in several different contexts where mediation is practiced, including areas such as victim-offender conflict, family and divorce, labour-management relations, environmental issues, conflict in schools, and international relations. In each case the examination emphasizes the social-structural circumstances that influence the nature of mediation practice. The course draws extensively on research findings and case-study materials relating to the contemporary practice of mediation.
