1. What UW Smart Planner is (and isn't)

UW Smart Planner is an independent, student-built planning tool for students of the University of Winnipeg. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the University of Winnipeg. Course and program information is drawn from the University's publicly available academic calendar and timetable and may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrectly interpreted.

2. Planning information is not academic advice

Suggestions, filters, degree-progress estimates, and any other output of this tool are informational only. They are not academic advising, and they do not guarantee registration eligibility, degree progress, or graduation. Always verify course details, requirements, and your academic plan on WebAdvisor and with a University academic advisor before registering or making decisions. You are solely responsible for your academic choices.

3. Cost estimates are not a bill

Any tuition or fee figure shown is an estimate, not a quote, an invoice, or a statement of your account. It is calculated from the University's published rate schedule as it stood on the date we recorded it, which the University may change at any time. Tuition is published as a range per faculty band rather than a single rate, some mandatory charges are not published at all, and course-specific fees depend on the section you register in. Confirm what you actually owe with Student Central and on WebAdvisor.

4. Seat alerts and notifications are best-effort

Seat and deadline notifications are provided on a best-effort basis with no guarantee of delivery or timeliness. We check section availability periodically, not continuously, so a notification may be late, may not arrive at all, or may describe a seat that is gone by the time you read it. Delivery also depends on your browser, device, and operating system, which are outside our control. Do not rely on a notification to register for a course, and do not treat the absence of one as evidence that nothing has changed.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, including attempting to gain unauthorized access, disrupting the service, scraping it at abusive rates, or using another person's account. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

6. Accounts

Some features require signing in with a University of Winnipeg student email address. You are responsible for activity under your account. We never see or store your university password.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page, which removes it and everything backed up to it immediately and permanently. You can also download a copy of your data first, or erase what is stored in your browser. See the Privacy Policy for what each of those covers.

7. No warranty; limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of UW Smart Planner are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the service, including missed prerequisites, registration errors, delayed graduation, or reliance on any information it presents.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
