Description

In this course we discuss the design and function of clinical equipment, basic principles of imaging modalities and criteria for use as they relate to radiation therapy. Practical reinforcements of principles are provided in a lab setting. The fundamental concepts of radiation biology are described at the cellular and patient levels. Students are introduced to theories of how radiation interacts with cells and tissues, what impact radiation has on organisms and the human body, and how to best achieve treatment goals.
