Description
This course examines the responses of Indigenous writers and artists (through novels, poems, plays and movies) to colonial structures and colonial discourse in Canada. All works are read in French. Indigenous guests are invited to the class and the students are asked to attend events in the Indigenous community as part of their course requirement. Students finish the course with a good understanding of Canada's historic relationship with Indigenous Canadians and how Canadians and how colonialism still affects present relationships.
