Description

This course is designed for students with a basic knowledge of French. Students learn grammatical and lexical foundations, such as past and future tenses, the subjunctive mood (for expressing emotions), the conditional present (to discuss hypothetical situations), pronouns (to avoid redundancy). Vocabulary used to discuss abstract concepts is introduced. Language comprehension and expression skills are practiced in class (e.g. short texts, songs, or poems are presented and discussed). The weekly one-hour lab (travaux pratiques)) is dedicated to developing greater ease with using vocabulary, morphology, and syntax. Writing tasks include composing sentences and paragraphs.
