Description
This course is designed to improve students' written and grammatical command of French. Major modes are introduced (descriptive, narrative, and argumentative), with the grammatical tools required in the writing and editing process (e. g. complex sentences, conjunctions, adverbs, spelling). Model texts are presented and assignments focus on writing in a variety of genres (e.g. descriptions, narratives, summaries, reviews). Activities consist of writing sentences, paragraphs and essays, while practicing French syntax. The weekly one-hour lab (travaux pratiques)) is dedicated to language practice through games, debates, and thematic presentations aiming at vocabulary acquisition, and greater ease with morphology and syntax.
