Description

REL-4731/3 (S3) Topics in Chinese Culture and Society examines women in China from the pre-modern period to the contemporary era with a focus on women of modern Mainland China in their appropriate historical and cultural contexts. The course is a third year offering, however, it requires no prior knowledge of Chinese language, history, culture, or literature. Students in the course learn about the ways in which cultural representations of women's lives have changed from past to present. Prerequisite: 6 credit hours of EALC Culture (non-language) courses (or equivalent). In the absence of the prerequisite, permission of the instructor is required.
