Description
This course explores the gender dimensions of economic life from both neoclassical and feminist economics perspectives. Topics explored include gendered divisions of labour within the family; gender inequality in the labour market; unpaid domestic labor and work-family balance; the intersection of ability, class, race and sexuality in social reproduction; gender differences in management; and the gender impact of technological change and globalization. Examples are drawn from both developed and developing countries. Particular attention is paid to policy remedies for gender inequality in the economy.
