Description
Within the broad frameworks of international development and conflict resolution studies, this course explores the dynamics of indigenous people globally, with special reference to the Canadian context. The course describes key elements of indigenous cultures and world views. It examines interand intra-group conflict and conflict resolution processes involving indigenous communities. Processes of marginalization and underdevelopment are presented in order to understand the indigenous communities' social, economic, and political situations. Strategies for community development and conflict resolution will be highlighted as means to achieve transformation.
