Description
Contemporary anthropology has changed drastically over the last several decades. Anthropologists no longer exclusively study "primitive" societies; cultural anthropology is engaged and confronting important contemporary social, economic and political issues. In response, anthropologists now engage in these modern issues and at times take a public position. Public anthropology explores such issues as race and tolerance, health and well-being, global terror and militarism, forensic anthropology, and the Internet and other forms of the digital media. This course is designed to inform students about the development of anthropology as a relevant field of inquiry.
