Description
This course is a general introduction to the comparative study of human social and cultural life. Topical emphases vary but may include language, economic and political organization, kinship and marriage, ritual and belief, and the causes and consequences of social and cultural change in the contemporary world. This course focuses primarily on Indigenous peoples in North America. Some instructors may devote substantially more time than others to the study of linguistics. Students are advised to consult with individual instructors for details.
