Description
This experiential learning course takes students through the process of designing and piloting an intersectional qualitative feminist research project. We explore issues central to feminist knowledge creation like methodology, ethics, power, authority, representation, and reflexivity. Steps include choosing a topic, obtaining bibliographic background, developing a research question, research ethics training, choosing research methods, writing a research proposal which must be approved by the WGS Research Ethics Committee, conducting preliminary research with participants, and presenting preliminary results. Discussions of readings, seminars on feminist research methods, and workshops on how to apply those research methods comprise the main content.
