Description
Poverty in urban centres has become a particularly serious problem in the late 20th-early 21st centuries. It differs, in many important respects, from the urban poverty of earlier generations. What are its distinguishing features? Why has it emerged at the time and in the form that it has? What modes of explanation can best guide us to a better understanding of this poverty? This course attempts to answer such questions, examining some theoretical works that address contemporary urban poverty.
