Description

This course explores the practices and responsibilities of the costume designer. Building on the narrative of the text, costumes reveal specific details in support of the performer through colour, texture, and silhouette of the garment. This course focuses on developing sketching and painting skills to create accurate scaled costume renderings for proper communication with the production staff. Students acquire technical terminology focused on construction to help the designer engage better with the costume shop. Engagement with professional designers and attending productions bridge their experience with the theatre industry.
