Description
This course introduces students to the business side of a career in the theatre. For students in ALL disciplines of the theatre industry, this course offers a basic vocabulary for career and project management. Topics covered include: seeking employment, unions, taxes for freelance arts workers, and writing applications for grants and festivals. In addition, the basics of producing and touring, including budgets, communications and scheduling are examined. The course consists of lectures and workshops with faculty and guest professionals. No previous knowledge of business or finance is necessary, but a working knowledge of theatre is required.
