Gender Issues in Canadian Politics

Description

This course provides an overview of issues facing women in Canadian politics. It begins with an understanding of the different types of feminism and explores feminist theory as an epistemology, an ideology and a social movement. Students then examine issues such as the backlash against feminism, the electoral project, women and public policy concerns and portrayals of women in the media. At the conclusion of the course, students are expected to be cognizant of the salient issues facing women in politics and have a broader understanding of feminist analysis.
