Description

This course examines the crucial revision of socialism to take account of freedom, the welfare state, democracy and regulation rather than public ownership. It will examine the ideas of Bernstein, Hobhouse, Crosland, Karlsson and Giddens. It deals with similar themes in the Canadian political context, especially the ideas of Frank Scott and Pierre Elliott Trudeau.
