Description
The human senses and virtually all the forces experienced in everyday life are electromagnetic in origin. Electromagnetism is the best understood of the four fundamental forces, and the subject remains one of the pillars of modern physics despite being largely developed in the 1800s. Students gain a complete view of classical electrodynamics, starting with static electricity and magnetism, proceeding to Maxwell's equations and electromagnetic radiation, and finishing with its natural extension to special relativity.

PHYS-2105, PHYS-2106, and PHYS-2200 (or the former PHYS-2201) [prerequisite(s)]; MATH-2105, MATH-2106, and PHYS-2202 (recommended to be taken previously or at the same time as this course).
