Description
This course provides students with intensive skills-based training in historical research methodologies related to researching Indigenous histories. Through a combination of lectures, seminars, and skills training workshops, students practice key historical research skills which may include: reading cursive handwriting, transcribing primary source documents, creating data management systems for research data, and evaluating primary source research as data. Students also learn about the ethics of doing Indigenous history research. Students are each responsible for assessing, cataloguing, and translating a specific set of research data. Generally, this data will be a subset of the Instructor's research program.
