Description
This lecture/seminar course examines the complex history of immigration to Canada. Topics will include an examination of the social, economic, and political conditions motivating immigrants to leave their homelands in the British Isles, Europe, Asia, Latin America and elsewhere for Canada, their strategies for adaptation to life in Canada, and the response of Canadian society to their presence. The lectures and seminars also will compare the Canadian immigrant experience with the experiences of the United States and other countries.
