Description
This course examines key issues and events in contemporary Latin American history based on the social, political, economic and cultural phenomena critical to their development. As a contemporary history course, the chronological emphasis is on the post-1945 period, while the actual topics vary each time it is offered. Students have the opportunity to engage recent Latin American history, current regional and international issues, and the factors behind them, thereby promoting an understanding of the link between current events and historical causation. Students actively engage in methods of research, analysis, and problem-solving.
