Description

This lecture/seminar course examines the political, social, cultural, and economic dimensions of the Ottoman Empire from its inception at the beginning of the fourteenth century until its demise in 1922. The multi-faceted aspects of this course are designed to present the rich heritage of the Ottoman Empire which expanded in its heyday from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean and from the Danube to the Nile. The course offers a comprehensive introduction to Ottoman life throughout the centuries. It also highlights the legacy of the Ottoman Empire in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
