Description

This course offers a broad survey of cultural developments in German-speaking Europe from the Middle Ages to the Romantic period at the beginning of the 19th century, including developments in art, architecture, music, and the social/political background. Writings by authors such as Luther, Grimmelshausen, Kant, Lessing, and Goethe will allow for discussion of themes and issues in the context of their times.
