Description
This course surveys women's history in Western Europe from classical times to about 1700. Using primary and secondary sources, the course covers historical fluctuations in the condition and status of women, as well as an array of economic, political, and social relations between women and men, with a focus on the ideologies (e.g., religious, philosophical) that helped to shape attitudes toward women.
