Description
This course traces the development of the German language from early Germanic to the present. It examines both the internal evolution of the German language (its phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics) and the sociocultural and historical factors that influenced its development. Various linguistic documents illustrating the distinct features of German in different eras are studied.
