Description
This course offers a broad survey of cultural developments in German-speaking Europe from the beginning of the 19th century to the present, including developments in art, architecture, music, and the social/political background. Writings by authors such as E.T.A. Hoffmann, Marx, Freud, Kafka, Brecht, and Christa Wolf will allow for discussion of themes and issues in the context of their times.
