Description

This course examines the transformations within British literature and culture that have occurred in the contemporary period, with a special consideration of how the idea of 'culture' itself has become integral to the articulation of a post-imperial national identity. Students examine literature alongside film, television, music, and the visual arts in order to comprehend the changes in British culture and society that have come with the transformation of Britain into a multicultural nation and with its efforts to find its geopolitical place in an era of globalization.
