Description
This course examines how novels, plays, short stories and historical narratives are associated with and/or adapted to screenplays and films. Attention is given to narrative theory and practices, elements and principles of story design, screenplay as literary genre, the art of adaptation, and interdisciplinary creative processes. Works to be studied range from British and American classics, such as The Scarlet Letter and Portrait of a Lady, to recent Canadian and international feature films, such as The English Patient and A History of Violence.
