Description
This advanced creative writing course examines the fluidity and intersection of literary genres, emphasizing adaptability and intertextual experimentation. Through the analysis of hybrid genres-prose poetry, autotheory, flash nonfiction, lyric essay, and other hybrid literary forms-students explore the relationship between literary form and its cultural and societal resonance. By engaging in a series of creative exercises, students critically adapt and innovate upon established forms, integrating a range of cultural and social considerations into their writing.
Requisite courses
6 credit hours of First-year English, including ENGL-1001(6) or ENGL-1000(3) [prerequisite(s)]; and ENGL 2102(3) [prerequisite(s)].
