Description
This course offers a select survey of women writers, theorizing about women, and feminist theory from the Middles Ages to the present. Lectures and discussion offer historical, aesthetic, social, theoretical, and literary contexts in which to consider women as subjects, writers, and readers and to consider the material conditions of women at different points in history and in different cultural contexts. The course also consider women in relation to various literary, political, and cultural movements, which may include, but not necessarily limited to, Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Victorianism, Feminism, Decadence, Modernism, Postmodernism, Globalization and Postcolonialism.
Requisite courses
6 credit hours of First-Year English, including ENGL-1001 or ENGL-1000 [prerequisite(s)].
