Description
This course introduces students to Canadian literature and cultural history from a variety of historical, regional, generic, and artistic contexts. Emphasis may be placed on certain moments or movements, such as modernism and postmodernism, postcolonial and diasporic writing, settler colonial literature, or Indigenous literatures, and different genres (life writing, poetry, popular literature, historical fiction, short stories, etc.). Attention is paid to the roles of class, ethnicity, gender, globalization, immigration, nationalism, race, regionalism, and sexuality in the texts.
