Description
This course provides teachers with an awareness of the issues concerning newcomer children and youth. Teachers who work in multi-ethic cities must learn how to meet the unique needs of newcomer students and how to work effectively in partnership with families and the community. The course content examines the state of the world's children, global citizenship, and newcomer children's connections to Canadian classrooms. Providing psychosocial and emotional support to children and youth who come from diverse backgrounds is one of the concerns addressed.
