Description
Instruction, and Assessment: History and Philosophy of Science and Science Teaching (4 hrs Lecture) This course examines the historical development of science in terms of major themes (like the atomic model) and how this development relates to science teaching. It is intended to foster a more complete view of the nature and philosophy of science to provide the science educator with a context for the content of the Manitoba curriculum and associated textbooks. This is not a formal course in the history of science; but rather, the course emphasizes the role of history and philosophy of science in science instruction. This course may also be of interest to elementary and middle years teachers who wish to gain a broader insight into science and can be used as certification elective.
Note
Available only to students admitted to the certification portion of the program.
