CLAS-11003 credit hours

Introductory Latin I

Classics · 3 hrs Lecture | 1 hrs Lab

Offered: Fall Only, Every Year

One shot a year. Offered fall term only, so a clash costs a full year.

CLAS-1100 prerequisites

Taking CLAS-1100 is a prerequisite for 1 course directly, and opens 21 once their own follow-ons are counted.

Where CLAS-1100 counts

Required by 1 program:

  • CLAS MINOR IN CLASSICS: LANGUAGE STREAM (LATIN)

Counts toward 3 more as one option among several, not as a course you must take:

  • CLAS 3-YEAR BA IN CLASSICS (CLASSICAL LANGUAGES)
  • CLAS 4-YEAR BA IN CLASSICS (CLASSICAL LANGUAGES)
  • CLAS HONOURS BA IN CLASSICS (CLASSICAL CIVILIZATION)

Read from the departments' own calendar pages, where 50 of 208 programs are only partly machine-readable, so treat these as a minimum rather than the full list. Confirm with an academic advisor.

Description

The course is designed for students who have no previous knowledge of the Latin language. Its aim is to introduce the concept of an inflected language and to teach the basic elements of Latin grammar and vocabulary.

Requisite courses
