Taking CHEM-2302 is a prerequisite for 2 courses directly, and opens 3 once their own follow-ons are counted.

Where CHEM-2302 counts

Required by 4 programs:

  • BCHM HONOURS BSc IN BIOCHEMISTRY
  • CHEM 3-YEAR BSc IN CHEMISTRY
  • CHEM 4-YEAR BSc IN CHEMISTRY
  • CHEM BSc (HONOURS) IN CHEMISTRY

Counts toward 3 more as one option among several, not as a course you must take:

  • BCHM 3-YEAR BSc IN BIOCHEMISTRY
  • BCHM 4-YEAR BSc IN BIOCHEMISTRY
  • CHEM MINOR IN CHEMISTRY

Read from the departments' own calendar pages, where 71 of 141 programs are only partly machine-readable, so treat these as a minimum rather than the full list. Confirm with an academic advisor.

Description

This is a first course in analytical chemistry which examines ionic equilibria in aqueous solutions and their use in chemical analysis. This course covers both volumetric and gravimetric analysis with a detailed examination of the pertinent equilibria involved in precipitation, acid-base, complexometric, and oxidation-reduction systems. The lab consists of a series of experiments designed to develop strong analytical techniques.

Requisite courses

CHEM-1111 and CHEM-1112 [prerequisite(s)]; CHEM-2302L (lab) (must be taken concurrently).
