Description

This is a lab-based course focused on anatomical evolutionary connections between the various vertebrate groups. Students explore these connections, as well the fundamentals of vertebrate anatomy and physiology through the analysis and/or dissection of preserved specimens including a lamprey, a dogfish shark, an amphibian called a Necturus, a turtle, a pigeon, and a cat. Other lab exercises involve examining the integumentary systems of these groups as well as their derivatives (e.g., antlers or claws).

BIOL-1115 and BIOL-1116 [prerequisite(s)].

Restrictions

Students may not hold credit for this course and BIOL-2111(6) or BIOL-2116(3).
