Description
Museum Anthropology is a branch of anthropology that critically engages with museum collections as sources of knowledge about humans and culture. Learners in this course explore the theory and practice of museum anthropology, focusing on topics such as the histories and legacies of ethnographic, archaeological, and bioanthropological collections; representations of culture in museum catalogues and displays; and efforts to decolonize anthropological museums. Students develop applied and critical skills through lab activities in the Anthropology Museum, field trips to local museums, and guided research leading to the curation of a small public exhibit.
